  1. Hey Chris……I see you’re using a JZ mic. (The Black Hole, that we use for instrument recording.). We also use (primarily Vox) the JZ 47 and find that it compares favourably with the Neumann/Microtech Gefell?EV etc. However, we have found that positioning of the Black Hole mic is absolutely critical in achieving anything like a good recording. That said, when it goes right, it’s spectacular. I’d be interested in your comments on either or both of these microphones as they are becoming an integral part of our arsenal. With thanks, Aidrian

    1. Aidrian,

Yes, I recently put my hands on the Black Hole. I kinna like it so far. I will produce a youtube video about this mic pretty soon.
I tried it on an acoustic guitar, guitar amp (Orange), a female vocal and of course my voice for my Youtube videos.
What do you like to use it on the most?

      1. Hey Chris….. thanks for getting back. Well, we’ve tried the Black Hole, like yourself, very effectively on acoustic guitar as well as close mic violin. But our most surprising success came with capturing the ‘tap’ of a cajon. Coupled with an AKG kick mic, we were able to effect each channel independently achieving a pleasing result. By the way, should you get the opportunity, do try the Vintage 67 (emulates the Neumann U47), fantastic on Male Vox and, funnily enough, drum kits.

        1. Thanks for your insight on this. Now I have to try it out on my Cajon 🙂
I think I will include this on the review video that I’m working on, thanks again!

  2. Hey Chris i love your vids I just purchased pro 10 and they have helped a lot.
I applied for your template book 3 rimes and haven’t received it. but no matter I looking at buying your video

  3. Chris, Awesome tutorials!! Question though, I notice that your vocals are recorded in Stereo versus Mono…. Is there a specific reason for this, or personal preference? Looking forward to more of your video’s down the road…Thanks for everything

    1. That vocal was sent to me that way. I’m planning on doing a video on this since there’s a bit of confusion. Thanks my friend 🙂
